EuroLEAN+ at QRM World Conference

The EuroLEAN+ team will be presenting Organizing the Shop Floor in High-Variety/Low-Volume at the 2018 QRM World Conference in Eindhoven.  Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) is a strategy that focuses on cutting lead times in companies offering high-mix, low-volume, and custom-engineered products to reduce cost and improve profitability, performance, and quality. The conference, from June 18-20, will include masterclasses, workshops, case studies, simulation games and networking opportunities. 


The EuroLEAN+ track includes the following presentations:

  • Erlend Alfnes - Key topics in HV/LV shop floor management - an introduction to the EuroLean/QRM project
  • Jannes Slomp - Design of a POLCA Cellular System: linking FTMS thinking and Factory Physics Principles
  • Paul J. van Loon and Ken Soedira - The role of leadership in the transitioning process towards autonomously functioning cells
  • Oladipupo Olaitan - Card-Based, Pull Control Strategies for a High Mix Manufacturing System
  • Gu van Rhijn - Human robot collaboration and operator guidance in flexible assembly
  • Menno Herkes - Elements of a Living Learning Community for Operations Managers and Researchers in HV/LV

Interactive Webinar about Kongsberg Maritime's Lean Transformation

The EuroLEAN+ team has arranged an exciting webinar with recent Shingo Prize winner Daryl John Powell (Lean Programme Manager – Subsea Division, Kongsberg Maritime AS) about their lean journey and how they became Norway’s lean enterprise of the year 2017. The webinar will be hosted physically at NTNU, and will be available via a live interactive stream where online participants will have the opportunities to ask questions.

4th EuroLEAN+ Project Meeting
2nd - 3rd of May

The next transnational EuroLEAN+ project meeting takes place in Lingen at the Osnabrück Univeristy of Applied Sciences in Germany. The partners will discuss the current status of the project on the first meeting day. On the 3rd of May, a visit to the company Rosen is planned. The partners will lead a workshop on "Requirement analysis - Lean 4.0".

The third transnational project meeting of EuroLEAN+ took place in Hamburg. The project partners discussed the current status and future activities in the project. They visited the shopfloor at the Kongsberg Maritime Facility in Halstenbeck.

Quick Response Manufacturing Seminar

On 22nd of June, NTNU - Erasmus EuroLEAN+ organised a workshop on the use of Quick Response Manufacuring (QRM). Professor Vincent Wiegel, founder of QRM Center Europe talked about QRM and taught the QRM principles which can be applied the best. Then, Aldert van der Stoel, researcher from the HAN Lean/QRM center, linked QRM to Lean practice. Watch the video to learn more about the event.
